MARILYN NOVA WHITE

Career & Identity

It all began at the age of seven, wearing a bear costume for a first ballet performance. Following a qualification as a Medical Assistant (2005) and seven years of permanent employment in the commercial sector, a transformative turning point arrived in 2012: graduating in Theater Pedagogy (BuT®) in Heidelberg marked the launch of Marilyn’s international, self-directed artistic career.

Today, the "Rampensau" (stage animal) Marilyn Nova White (no pronouns) lives in Berlin. Born into a non-artistic working-class background with German-Bulgarian roots, Marilyn now works as a performance artist, actor, and drag king. In an interdisciplinary practice, Marilyn explores queer physicality, heritage, identity, and transformation – always with a preference for characters with depth and a certain twist. Queer-feminist approaches, sexual education, and elements of kink, desire, and humor characterize this work.

Drag Kinging

As Drag King Marilyn Moustache, Marilyn has been creating performances between glam, trash, and resistance since 2017. This work continues in the international MALED IT! Drag King Workshops (e.g., UdK Berlin, HfS Ernst Busch, Kaserne Basel). For Marilyn, this educational work is both community building and artistic practice.
 

​Acting, Dance & Pedagogy

To explore new forms of expression, Marilyn deepened acting studies (including the Schauspielfabrik Berlin in 2023 and Actors Space Berlin in 2025, focusing on Meisner Technique). The former "ballet bear" now looks back on experience in dance styles such as Tribal Fusion, Voguing, Go-Go dance, and Frame Up. Furthermore, Marilyn taught for over seven years with a focus on ATS (American Tribal Style) as well as theater and circus pedagogy.
 

Intimacy Coordination

A recent addition to the portfolio is Marilyn’s work as an Intimacy Coordinator. Marilyn supports productions in creating intimate scenes that are safe, consent-oriented, and professional.

 

Collaborations & Awards

Marilyn’s works have been realized in collaboration with groups such as Frauen und Fiktion, CHICKS freies performancekollektiv*, Tümay Kilincel, Nature Theater of Oklahoma, and Taylor Mac (Berliner Festspiele).
 

• 2024: Selection for the FAIRSTAGE Fellowship Program (for non-discriminatory working conditions).

• 2024: Most Organized Artist Award by Clown Slam.

• 2022: NEUSTART KULTUR Research Grant (FONDS DARSTELLENDE KÜNSTE).
